In honor of March Against Monsanto today, I wanted to share some info about GMOs.
I heard a talk on GMOs by Jeffrey Smith, author of Seeds of Deception, at the functional nutrition conference in Portland last month. And it scared the crap out of me.
– He talked about fertility problems in rats that were fed GM soy.
– He talked about eating GM corn and turning your stomach into a living pesticide factory.
– He talked about crops that are designed to make insects’ stomachs explode.
– And the serious lack of studies done on human safety, due to political pressure from Monsanto.
If you’re not sure why you should care about GMOs, get informed!

Remember – eat whole foods and choose organic to avoid GMOs!
And be sure to look for the Non-GMO Project Verified label when you shop.
One more thing, my nutrition school the Institute for Integrative Nutrition has long been involved in the push for labeling of GMOs. For every new student who enrolls by October 16th, they will donate $100 to the group of your choice: Label GMOs: California’s Grassroots, Non-GMO Project, or Institute for Responsible Technology. PLUS, you can get $1000 off tuition.
So if you’ve been thinking about enrolling this is a great time to make a difference for your health and the health of our whole planet. Questions? Feel free to email me!
